Dave wanted people to know that no matter how hard life can be, that it can always get better. “It is important for people to know that no matter what lies in their past, they can overcome the dark side and press on the a brighter world.” When Dave's mom dropped him off late to school he had to go to the nurse’s office. The nurse would talk to Dave and document the burses he had on his body. The documentation that the nurse did about the burses on Dave's body eventually lead to help. This help lead to him to one day being freed from the years of abuse and neglect that he lived in. He then became an author and an advocate for abused children.
“One could come from less than humble beginnings, to become a winner from within.” Dave came from very humble beginnings in life; he was the second child of five. Dave suffered more than his siblings did, and was belittled in front of his siblings. He was physically abused and emotionally abuse, lived for days without food. He lived in terrible living conditions. He has overcome those odds and has become a motivational speaker and an author.
